Dr. Sonja Ozalea Walton is a seasoned and accomplished registered nurse with over 25 years of clinical experience and extensive healthcare expertise. Sonja started her educational journey in Linden, Guyana, where she obtained her General Nursing training at the Charles Rosa School of Nursing. She subsequently obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Guyana. Her dedication to care and professionalism continued to expand, with further tertiary instruction at the Grand Canyon University, where she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing, with a special emphasis on leadership within the healthcare system. Sonja’s ardor and devotion to caring for humanity extend into her commitment to become a proficient healthcare leader, being a contributing member to several organizations, including the American Nurses Association, the Canadian Vascular Access Association as well as the Capital District Nurse Research Alliance Inc. Her level of steadfast care, as well as educational aptitude, earned Sonja an invitation and membership into the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Notwithstanding her esteemed educational honors, Sonja is dedicated to servant leadership and philanthropy, founding the Bermuda Canadian Vascular Access Chapter in 2010, as well as contributing her time to many professional and philanthropic endeavors dedicated to improving the social and health infrastructure within the US, as well as in Guyana and the greater Caribbean region. With a steadfast belief that to whom much is given, much is required, Sonja continues to dedicate her time to lifelong learning, teaching, mentoring, and care.
